Ladder Association's Idiots On Ladders 2014 winner announced
Posted On: 13-01-2015
The Ladder Association's ladder safety awareness campaign, which runs hand-in-hand with the Ladder Exchange Scheme, has turned up Britain's biggest 'idiot on a ladder' as part of a Facebook-run photo competition.

Members of the public and industry workers snapped 'Idiots On Ladders' to enter the popular competition which saw a higher number of entries than ever before. The winning entry (pictured below) shows one man with his foot on a ladder while in the bucket of an excavator, already 20 feet above the ground, while another climbs up the ladder to a chimney stack.

Ladder Association communications and social media officer, Michael Fern, said: “This year the public sent in more pictures of people working dangerously at height than ever before, and some of the pictures were among the most unbelievable we have seen.

“One of the runners up [images] also showed a ladder being used from inside an excavator, hinting at how worryingly common even ideas as ridiculous as these can be.

"Idiots on Ladders is a great reminder of the importance of training. Its message is clear – if you are using a ladder you must make sure that you are competent, otherwise you really are taking your life in your hands.”
